Recycled art yarn from scraps!
One of the reasons I have been learning to weave and spin is so I can turn my fabric and yarn scraps back into a useful resource. Something I can use again in my next craft project. So it keeps my textile waste out of landfill, and allows me to continue crafting without having to always buy new materials.
I had to invest in a pair of hand carders and a drop spindle. The yarn scraps are untwisted, blended together, then spun into new yarn.
It’s time consuming doing it all by hand, but I’m not doing it for a profit so it’s a good thing it takes a while. I find it quite a relaxing, meditative and grounding process.
And the resulting yarn is imperfect and textured, but appeals to me much more than the original yarn!
