Braided fabric cord

Today I spent a pleasant hour in the autumn sunshine braiding a length of cord, out of long fabric scraps, to thread into the back panel of my navy waistcoat. There used to be a ribbon there but I'd lost it.

Who knows where the ribbon went. But I blame the resident toddler who likes to pull things out of drawers and wardrobes and run off with them.

I made this waistcoat a few years ago while pregnant - the corset-style back was so it would be easy to adjust the size over a large range. The back is also made from jersey so it's comfortable to wear.

It was good to bring this waistcoat back into wear again, sometimes older me-made garments just need a bit of love to become favourites again.
