As we pass the Equinox, it certainly feels like spring is here. I recently made this pair of Fernway culottes (pattern by Twig & Tale) which I feel are just perfect for wearing in this period of transition between seasons.
I had been eyeing up this pattern for a while now, but had hestitated a bit. I haven't worn culottes since I tried to wear some for my school uniform instead of a skirt. (I did get away with it for a little while.)
But I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did. So, so comfy (they have a half elastic waist), nice big pockets, and I feel right at home in them. Swooshy, but practical.
One of my intentions for the year is to add more texture into my wardrobe and I felt that required some corduroy. I found this lovely plum colour fabric from The Good Stitch Goring. I adjusted the pattern a little bit because the corduroy is quite thick, so I took out some width from the back pieces to reduce bulk around the elastic waistband. Overall they were very quick and simple to make.
I'm very excited about spending more and more time outside and I think these trousers will be perfect for garden pottering and adventures alike.
